The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in 2015, set out 94 calls to action for all levels of Canadian government, and all Canadians to learn the historical treatment of the Indigenous Peoples of Canada, as well as the Metis Nation. These calls to action implore us to acknowledge the harm and mistreatment that took place; to learn from these atrocities; and to move forward with respect and responsibility for each other, the land, and future generations. Traditional land acknowledgement provides the means to establish and maintain meaningful relationships with the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather.
Treaty 1 Land Acknowledgement
Westshore Singers would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional and ancestral lands of the Anishinabeg, Cree, Inninewak, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dene peoples, and is also the homeland of the Metis Nation.
